About Us
We are the Sheffield University Symphony Orchestra; a friendly, auditioned and high-quality symphony orchestra, made up of students from all over the University of Sheffield. We rehearse on Monday evenings and usually perform two concerts a year as a part of the University of Sheffield Concert series.
The orchestra is closely affiliated with the University's Department of Music and is conducted by Jack Grime.
Our recent repertoire has included Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, Amy Beach's 'Gaelic' Symphony, various concertos for piano, flute and French horn as well and new pieces by student and contemporary composers. There are also opportunities for student soloists and conductors.

The committee regularly put on socials including trips to professional concerts, nights out and hikes in the Peak District. Rehearsals are also always followed by a trip to the pub!
